Pregnancy & Motherhood

Pregnancy has been one of the most enduring sources of inspiration for my sculpture. I remember being pregnant with enormous happiness and a profound sense of wonder, and I wanted to capture something of that extraordinary time in my work.

I am fascinated by the transformation of the female body during pregnancy - the contrasts between strength and vulnerability, weight and lightness, the physical and the emotional. I love the way the body becomes both monumental and incredibly delicate, while carrying within it the beginnings of another life.

But it is the relationship between mother and unborn child that interests me most. Before birth, they already share a private world that belongs only to them. It is intimate, invisible and impossible for anyone else to fully experience.

At the same time, pregnancy seems to invite the attention of others. The instinctive desire to touch a pregnant woman's belly is something I have always found intriguing - a very public response to something that is, in essence, deeply private.

Through simplified forms, flowing curves and a strong sense of line and space, these sculptures explore that balance between the physical presence of pregnancy and the quiet emotional connection it represents.

The works in this collection celebrate pregnancy not simply as a physical transformation, but as a time of anticipation, joy, tenderness and the beginning of a lifelong relationship.
